Da-Les Auto Body Inc. of Sunnyvale, California, takes customer service and satisfaction very seriously. Just as we have since 1978, we believe every customer deserves the same kind and quality of service as if they were our only customer. This ongoing commitment to our clients has led to us recently gaining our 23rd five-star customer rating on social media review platform Yelp!, as well as helping us maintain our A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. We believe our policy of straightforward, honest pricing and superior customer service is the key to success, and our ratings have proven this philosophy time and time again.
When we first opened up 35 years ago, the Internet and social media were a futuristic fantasy for most Americans. We relied on word of mouth and positive feedback to keep our doors open. Nowadays we know people can review our service any of a dozen ways right from their cell phone, which makes it more important than ever before that each and every customer gets the best possible service every time. While many businesses view this new connectivity as a threat, we prefer to look at it as a challenge to make sure we put our best effort into every job we’re trusted with.
The Better Business Bureau has existed in one form or another since the late 1800s, as a means of self-policing businesses and ensuring they deliver what they promise through advertising or action. One of the first and most prominent lights of the BBB was Samuel Dobbs, one of the first presidents of the Coca-Cola Company, who strongly believed that the purchasing public should never be subject to deceptive business practices. Today, membership in the BBB is considered a privilege, and attaining the coveted A+ rating a milestone bespeaking consumer confidence and business integrity.
On the other side of the coin are social media services like Yelp! Launched in 2004 as a way to ask friends for reviews of physicians in the San Francisco area, this social media reviewing site has become a vitally important source of information for businesses since its inception. Yelp! is a great resource because it tells businesses not only what they are doing right, but where they could be improving their service. This is especially important because its outward-directed interface makes it easy for prospective clients to find places with great, and not so great, reviews quickly and easily.
The most important thing any business can do is change with the times. As more customers have more options for telling people about their good and bad experiences, it becomes more important than ever before for every type of business to listen to what their clientele is saying. Our philosophy is that we can’t fix what we don’t know is wrong. At the same time, if we’re doing a great job and keeping our customers satisfied, we obviously want to know that as well. There’s no sense in fixing what isn’t broken or reinventing the wheel if our customers already feel like we’re giving them the best possible service.
Of course, there’s always room for improvement. Every five-star rating we receive is a great validation of our commitment to our customers. At the same time, lower ratings tell us we still have work to do. This is the challenge our clients set for us every day, and we take great pride in rising to that challenge. Overall, we have managed to maintain a four-star rating on Yelp!, which is of course not as high as we’d like to be, but it still serves as a solid base for growing and getting even better.
