Da-Les Auto Body was founded in 1976 in the heart of Silicon Valley. Since then, we’ve helped thousands of people keep their personal vehicles and corporate fleets in top condition and running order. By combining old-fashioned customer service and attention to detail with the latest in cutting-edge technology, we have been able to provide consistently great service through nearly four decades. Of course, customer feedback has always been a big part of this service, because knowing and understanding the concerns of our clients is the biggest part of learning where and how we can improve the ways in which we do business. With the advent of the Internet and review sites such as Yelp!, this has become more timely and critical than ever before.
Da-Les’ owner, Dave Ressa, says, “In today business environment, every customer that comes in can be your best cheerleader or saltiest critic.” This has become increasingly important with the influx of modern technologies, starting with Apple in our own backyard. As computer and Internet technology has grown and expanded, from MySpace to Facebook to Google, we have made it a point to stay current not just with trends and advances in automotive repair, but also in the wider world of communication. In this way, we have been able to better serve our clients and respond more quickly and efficiently to concerns and problems they might have.
Yelp! was founded in 2004 in San Francisco, CA by Jeremy Stoppelman and Russel Simmons. Initially it started as a simple email service for giving local reviews, but soon expanded far beyond the confines of the Bay Area. It soon grew so large it drew attention from outside interests including Google, which made an effort to purchase Yelp! in 2009. Due to a number of concerns and considerations, the sale did not go through, and Yelp! became a publicly traded company in 2012. Yelp!’s reputation has preceded it, making it one of the premier online review sites in the world.

October 2004: Yelp! goes live in San Francisco
November, 2004: Da-Les receives its first Yelp! review
2005: Yelp! becomes a truly “social” network
2007: Yelp! reaches 1 million reviewers
2009: Google and Yahoo both attempt to purchase Yelp!; neither sale goes through
2012: Yelp! acquires European rival Qype
2012: Yelp! becomes a publicly traded company
Our first Yelp! reviewer was Ryo S. of Millbrae, CA. His 5-star review read, “Excellent service with reasonable price. Professional attitude with willingness to deal with tough insurance claims.” In the following decade, Da-Les has received many Yelp! reviews, most glowing, some unfortunately not. This is the cost of doing business in the digital age. Despite this, Da-Les’ commitment to its customers has not changed, which is why even given the one- and two-star reviews we’ve enjoyed a 4-star overall rating over the past ten years.
Because we take our reputation seriously and want to ensure we provide the best customer service and end product possible, we make it a point to respond to all reviews on Yelp! and elsewhere as soon as we become aware of them, whether they are great or not. In the case of good reviews, we want to show our appreciation to the people who take the time and effort to tell us what they like about our service. When it comes to the not-so-good reviews, we prefer to view them as opportunities to win back clients while simultaneously improving our business.
Yelp! has proven an invaluable tool for us at Da-Les Auto Body, because we can’t fix what we don’t know is wrong. After almost forty years in the automotive repair business, we’re very good at what we do.
